Make a date to dance Friday afternoons this fall!
From October 24 through and including November 21, 2025, new instructors every week will lead this sampler series of a kaleidoscope of techniques, styles, and approaches. Drawn from Chicago’s wealth of dance talent, visiting artists, as well as exceptional students and alums, this series is curated by current dance major Calme Brown.
All classes take place at the Dance Center and movers at all levels are welcome.

Femme DOWN with Nautica Turner-Brisco
Friday, October 24, 2-3:20 PM Room 200
“Femme DOWN!” creates a space where dancers can create their own standards of beauty, power, freedom, and artistic expression. Dancers will experience a choreography-based class that channels the movement and feminine influences of dances styles such as: Hip Hop, Vogue, Jazz, Heels, Dancehall/Afro and HBCU Majorette, while leaving space for dancers to do what we love most without all the pressure — DANCE! This class represents the now for many artist, and acts as a bridge-builder, and boundary-breakers for POC, women, and LGBTQ+ communities.
Nautica Turner-Briscoe is a dance artist and Chicago native, who has 10 plus years of dance, performance, and choreography experience that stretches across various styles. Her artistry is home to Black movement and Black musical influences. Nautica has trained with various artists and companies such as Darrell Jones, Ayodele Drum & Dance, Stacy “Jukeboxx’ Latrice, Jukeboxx Mas Band, and more. Nautica has performed and presented work in various concerts and venues such as B.L.A.C.K Legacy Awards, The Black Women’s Expo, and Columbia College Chicago, where she presente her most recent work “Vantage Point.” Nautica holds a BA in Dance, and strives to expand her knowledge in various styles of dance and continue to promote love, happiness, inclusivity, and appreciation of blackness in the world of dance.
