Body Malleability Workshop by Silvita Diaz Brown
This Sildance/Acrodanza movement workshop led by Silvita Diaz Brown will expand body malleability, strength, playfulness, and self-expression.
Through movement techniques that blend elements of contemporary dance (Bartenieff fundamentals and release technique), ballet, yoga, acroyoga, and physical theater, Silvita will guide dancers to feel empowered in their bodies.
The Bartenieff and release floor exercises will ground the body, lubricate the joints, and make efficient body connections to give the body ease and fluidity.
The yoga poses will activate all the muscles, but especially the upper body muscles that often get neglected in dance practices. Yoga will also help to deepen the breath, encourages mindfulness and access to deeper flexibility with stability in the joints that makes the mover more aware of each body part, actions and stillness.
Across the floor contemporary dance exercises will play with gravity, explore directions and levels in the space, as well as spiraling and turning.
Simple ballet tendus, grand battement en rond de jambe sequences will lengthen the legs from integrated efficient body connections.
Yoga inversions and acroyoga partnering exercises will promote strength, trust, playfulness, efficient communication, and deep self-observation.
Silvita will run the whole practice with principles of yoga which promote a nurturing environment of self-observation to learn to become the mover you are meant to become. By the end of this practice, the body feels ready to move with ease and efficiency and the mind to learn new material, explore ideas, and connect emotionally to gestures.
