The Dance Presenting Series invites proposals for performances from Chicago dancemakers for its 45th anniversary celebration performance on Saturday, March 16, 2019, 7:30 p.m.
The call is open to anyone who has performed at, taught at, studied at, or otherwise feels a strong connection to the Dance Center.
Performance proposals should be works of no longer than seven minutes. They can be stand-alone works or an excerpt from a longer piece. The proposal should include casting, length, a brief description of the work, and a video sample if available. Proposals can be from any genre of dance and can be a new work or existing repertory. The performance will include a variety of artists, so technical needs should be relatively simple.
Deadline for proposals: December 1, 2018.
Compensation: $400, 10 hours of free studio rehearsal time (between January 7 and March 15, pending availability), and video documentation of performance
Please fill out a google proposal form by December 1.
Choreographers selected for inclusion will be notified by Friday, January 4, 2019. If selected, artists will be expected to provide publicity images, program information, and lighting and sound information 4-6 weeks in advance of the performance. Proposals will be reviewed by Ellen Chenoweth, Dance Presenting Series Director, Kevin Rechner, Technical Director, and Lisa Gonzales, Acting Chair of the Department of Dance.
