Matumbe Himons is a 31 year old Nashville Native. Growing up in The Country Music Capitol, he began studying dance and drum at the age of 5 at The Village Cultural Arts Center and graduated from Nashville School of the Arts while also performing professionally with Found Movement Group. He studied Dance Performance and Choreography at The University of Southern Mississippi, performing with the Repertory Dance Company and N'kafu Traditional West African Dance Company. He has studied across the country with teachers such as Andre Fuentes, Mariama Curry, Stacie Flood-Popp and Youssouf Koumbassa. In recent years, he has relocated to Chicago and joined Muntu Dance Theatre where he is currently the Rehearsal Director.
